"[She] floats through the air with the greatest of ease." was her description in the Super Mario Bros. 2 news announcement, from The Nintendo Fun Club News issue 3. I didn't really know what this meant, for I was around 10 years old at the time, and I didn't know about the "Girl on a Flying Trapeze" song. Actually, I didn't know about the song until around 18 years later when I finally saw the Popeye cartoon based around it.
Alongside the news announcement was also an announcement for "The Return of Donkey Kong", and apparently this was indeed the working title for Donkey Kong Country, which came out seven years later.
